Media Consumption: TV – Supernatural Season 6: Two and a Half Men

It’s a Supernaturnal GIF party tonight!
Finally got a chance to watch the second episode of this season. Not having broadcast tv really hampers keeping up.

Now the sixth season is starting to get some shape to it and I want to know who/what is behind it all. Still no Cas, but from previews, he’s coming back next Friday!

So this is going to be spoilery because there are some things I have to say that isn’t general knowledge.

Toy Stories: 2Tone Dunny Series

Kidrobot recently released their newest Dunny series: 2Tone!  This was a limited release compared to the yearly series and thus a little more expensive.  I wasn’t too impressed with most of the 2010 Dunnies and didn’t buy any blind boxes, but I was all about these.  All in all Dunnies are a hit and miss, so I was pleased that I actually liked enough of these to want to try my luck.  The 2Tone refers to the fact that except for some exceptions, the Dunnies are in a grayscale.  I really like the minimalism that comes from the limited color palette.

Out of three boxes I order from Kidrobot, I ended up with 1 Aaron Meshon.  His Dunny looks like baseball and comes with a pretzel accessory that has it’s own cute little face.

The other two boxes ended up being the Chuckboy Dunny.  Pretty bad odds, but there are worse ones to get a dupe.  This guy is a cyborg, but he’s more adorable than Robocop.  There are a few paint issues, but they aren’t that noticeable.

I’m not sure if I’m going to try the blind boxes again or if I’m going to just buy the ones that I want.  The only one that I really really want is the Doktor A Dunny and those are going for around $14-$20.  It would probably save me money to just buy the one I want instead of trying the boxes, but there is no thrill to that.

Kickstarter – Red Riding Hood Paper Sculpture

I just donated to this project after looking through Cheong-ah Hwang’s website, Papernoodle. She creates incredible paper sculptures and I wish I could see them in person to get the full effect. Also I wish I had the money to own one of her original pieces, but this project will allow me to have a little print to call my own.

Kickstarter Progress

I haven’t been keeping up this blog on my Kickstarter project.  Just as a general update, the shirts were purchased and they have come except I made a mistake and ordered the mens/unisex shirts Inky Hearts on black.  Waiting for a small reorder on the olive.

Here are some low quality images of them, but you get the idea.  :P

Media Consumption: TV – Supernatural Season 6: Exile on Main Street

Supernatural season 6 premiered on Friday, September 24th.  After devouring 5 seasons worth in about four months, it’s going to be a long road watching each episode week by week.

Now that Eric Kripke has handed over the reigns, it’s time to see if these new stories hold up with the old ones.  From what I’ve read, there is a return to season 1′s more episodic nature with an overarching plot weaved in.  Going back to the beginning might be the only thing to do once you’ve survived the apocalypse, unless you want to send the brothers into space to fight space vampires.

I don’t want to be spoilery since the episode has only been out for a few days, but some one other than Sam is back and I don’t know how I really feel about it yet.  I’m iffy on the addition of that many more hunters and I just want my Cas back.  I know he’ll be back for the season, but he wasn’t in this episode and I had a tiny sad face.

Dean has the suburban life set up, but there are signs that he’s not entirely comfortable with the whole idea and that makes sense when he’s lived a life of always looking over his shoulder and moving from place to place within matter of days.  Personally I would love if he could have a normal life with Lisa and Ben, but then no show, so now I’m thinking that they are going die or be seriously incapacitated to drive Dean full force back into the hunter life.

A week is too long to wait to see what happens next.

Twenty-Seven

As of yesterday, I am now the respectable age of 27.  I was experiencing some anxiety about the whole thing, but reality has turned out to be smooth sailing and fuzzy feelings.

I had a low key evening, including dinner with my folks and watching Avatar: The Last Airbender.  Doesn’t sound very exciting, but I’m happy on the whole.

Sharktopus the Animation!

My friend Jon asked me to draw a picture for him and then I turned it into this little animation.  I had never done something like it before, so I’m pretty happy about the results.  The whole things was a great learning experience and I’m not sick of the song after listening to it hundreds of times over the past few days.

Photoshop was handsaver for this project since I only had to draw a few figures and various parts to animate and then I could use the program to move things where I needed them instead of drawing each movement.  Of course iMovie was very helpful and now I have a much better understanding of how it works.  I had tried once before to use iMovie to make a little stop motion piece, but got fed up when I couldn’t figure it out.  This time, for whatever reason, was much easier.  Maybe I was using an older version?

Now my little video is out in the world and I’m beaming like a proud parent and a little anxious because I don’t want to get beat up on the playground that is the internet.
