Recently I watched all three Sherlock episodes and was very pleased.  I didn’t spend much time reading any of the original Sherlock Holmes stories and most of my knowledge is from Wishbone and various Star Trek: TNG episodes and thus I am no expert and can’t say whether it held up or not against tradition, but I had a good time.

It stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock and Martin Freeman as Watson and set in contemporary times.  There isn’t much time spent on Sherlock’s backstory other than he is a genius and has a brother.  Watson on the other hand is given a little more flesh, but that’s probably due to the fact that he doesn’t have genius to take up initial characterization.  Watson is a military doctor who was shot, sent back and at least for the first episode, dealing with the aftermath.  He seemingly bucks up as he goes along, even getting a little dating in.

The ending of the third episode, and the last episode until this time next year, is bad.  Not in a that-was-terrible-to-watch way, but a how-could-you-do-this-to-me-the-viewer-that-now-has-to-wait-a-whole-year way.  At least there will be more episodes and I can work on my patience.

Yesterday I finally finished watching Supernatural, at least up until the new season starts this month.  That was quite a ride to the end.

I had read that Eric Kripke had originally intended Supernatural to last five seasons and I can see how that ending would have happened.  I can also say that I would have been satisfied with it as it feels a whole story was told.  Sources say that season six will have the show returning to a more episodic story line with a greater story arch.  It’ll be interesting to see where it goes from here.

Highlights of season five are the episodes Changing Channels and The Real Ghostbusters, which are more humorous than many of the season’s episodes.  My Bloody Valentine was one of the grosser episodes in awhile, so be warned.

I also have to say that my crush on social awkward Castiel grew each time he did something particularly awkward.

It’s called Bong Seon Hwa (봉 선 화) and uses the Impatiens balsamina plant to create the color.

Wrapping it up.

One hand all wrapped.  After both hands were finished, I wore socks to bed so I wouldn’t get the paste everywhere.

The morning after.  My nails are now a brighter orange and so are my fingers.

We were a bit late this year and the plants were already on their way out, so I feel lucky that I was able to get it done twice before fall sets in.

The story is that if I still have color on my nails by the first snow fall, then I will marry my first love.  I don’t want to marry my first love, but it doesn’t snow in the central valley, so I should be safe.  Orange fingers crossed.

Anyway, I’m here to make a little list of things that I want and in reality, I will probably not get any of these things, but it’s a list that I can buy from later as I save up little bits of money here and there.

The only way that I will raise money is if people know about it, but it makes me feel like I’m a pusher when I’m emailing folks and posting links here and there.  I like it when people happen upon what I’m doing and enjoy it, but that doesn’t really get you very far.
